photo of the week: UTC@harbourside

After four months away, I returned this week to the UTC@harbourside to see how much progress has been made in the building works. For close to two years I have been photographing the renovation of the old Marine and Carpenter’s workshops in Newhaven as they are turned into a new engineering college (project photos here) and my role is almost at an end. The Carpenter’s workshop is already up and running and the larger Marine workshop will be open in the New Year.

Much of the students’ high spec engineering equipment has already arrived. To keep it clean and dust-free, the equipment is tied up in white drop cloths. I found there was something shroud-like to the forms as they stood around the room, bound tightly in black tape. The rest of the photographs from this shoot can be found here.
