The East Sussex County Council have hired me to document a large public art project they are undertaking entitled Transparent. The Council is renovating three libraries in the County and are commissioning pieces of public art to be located at each one. The photographs that I take will be used to record the project and to help the artists to achieve a transparent way of working. The project is also ‘transparent’ in that two of the artworks will be on glass and the third will be revealed by glass.
This first shoot involved photographing the judging panel for the Seaford Library commission. They had already drawn up a shortlist of three artists and needed to come to a final decision. I was only there for an hour of the day-long event, but was impressed to see the integrity and focus of the proceedings.
