Townings Farm: light changes everything

Posted by carlotta on Thursday November 21st, 2013 at 1:25pm

On the day I was due to visit Townings Farm to take a portait for the Market Year project, it had been raining all day and I was starting to wonder whether to put off my visit for a day or two. Luckily I didn’t because shortly after I arrived, the light suddenly changed to a beautiful slanting winter sunset, casting dramatic long shadows wherever I looked. It being mid-November, there was a flock of turkeys making a racket in the barn. They were beautiful in a mysterious, almost prehistoric way. In fact, many of the photos I took were of the livestock in the peaceful quiet of the winter afternoon. As I was leaving I had to jump out of my car to take some shots of three roosters whose combs were dramatically back-lit by the setting sun. Here are more photographs from this shoot.
