making wine

My visit to Davenport Vineyard in Crowborough, as part of my local food project, coincided with the final grape harvest. The day was overcast and threatening rain. Apparently it is not good for the grapes to get wet when they are being harvested so there was a sense of urgency to getting them inside. Once inside, I loved the impressive fermenting equipment, with all it’s reflective metal surfaces and glass tubes. I returned once more to the vineyard to catch the Autumn colours on the rows of vines.
