These documentary photographs are from my third shoot at the historic Southover Grange, a magnificent Tudor manor in the centre of Lewes. It is being restored to its former glory, and will soon once again be used as a registry office and for weddings. I have been hired to document the process by the owners, East Sussex County Council, who use my photographs to keep local residents informed of the progress being made.
The windows in Southover Grange are varied and beautiful and date from different stages in the development of the building. Some of them are currently wrapped in clear plastic sheeting, creating interesting patterns of light. In a back corridor I found a little window with panes covered in blue and green shapes that looked surprisingly like a topographical map.
