Over the next few months I will be documenting the process of change happening at the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust Centre in Deptford, London. The Trust are launching an exciting new development that will transform the interior use of the original building, designed by David Adjaye, into a thriving, creative, co-working ‘hub’ for start-ups in the built environment. More information about the project and the Trust can be found here.
This was my first shoot after the start of the construction work, although nothing had begun in earnest yet. This gave me a chance to concentrate on other aspects of the building. The bright, low winter light brought out a completely different side to David Adjaye’s striking building. A blog post about this shoot can be found here.
‘Justice for Stephen is about all of us, every one of us, in society having justice. There are still too many young people who do not have a sense of hope, who just don’t get the chance to live their dreams. I want all our children and young people to feel inspired, to be confident and have hope in their own future. We are building hope but there is more to do.’ Baroness Doreen Lawrence
