Over the next year or so I will be documenting the renovation of the old Harvey’s Depot in the centre of Lewes as it becomes the Depot, our new independent community cinema.
The internal space of the Depot has opened up considerably now. Many of the walls have come down, the roof is off and only the green metal supports remain overhead. When the sun came out, the light streamed through.
I have to admit I had a lot of fun photographing the remnants of the murals still on the walls, with the demolition men and the dust all around them. Wonderful new murals are now appearing on the hoarding outside. They were designed by local artist Peter Bushell and are being painted by volunteers.
