The East Sussex County Council have hired me to document a large public art project they are undertaking entitled Transparent. The Council is renovating three libraries in the County and are commissioning pieces of public art to be located at each one. The photographs that I take will be used to record the project and to help the artists to achieve a transparent way of working. The project is also ‘transparent’ in that two of the artworks will be on glass and the third will be revealed by glass.
A couple of weeks after I photographed the artist Zaneta Belasicova in her studio, the final print was ready. It was interesting to see the process of installing the colourful, beautiful design. I think it is quite apparent from my photographs how happy Zaneta was to see her artwork in situ. The final photograph here is of Councillor Chris Dowling officially opening the window the the public.
