bluebells in ancient woodland

I couldn’t stay away from the bluebells and went in search of more before the season finished. I found out yesterday that bluebells often indicate ancient woodland. These are from Abbots Wood, a wood that was granted to Battle Abbey by Henry I in the 1100s. That sounds pretty ancient to me.
