gravitational pull

I’ve always wondered why there are ridges that run horizontally along the steep sides of the South Downs hills. They look like ancient footpaths, although there are too many to make any sense. Turns out they are formed by gravity, according to my son the Geography student. I love that now, when I go walking on the Downs, I have a visual reminder all around me of Earth’s gravitational pull.
