Last March, the Phoenix Theatre and Studios, located on the Phoenix Estate in Lewes, burnt to the ground. The loss of this building was a personal tragedy for the people who used the Phoenix Theatre as studio and storage space for their artwork and for many local residents who enjoyed its multitude of other purposes: dance and theatre classes and performances, boot fairs and parties. A day-long festival was organised as a fundraising event to help those who had lost so much in the fire. From a sad beginning came a day of joy, laughter, music and dancing. These photos are just a taste of the eclectic range of performances held throughout the day and into the evening.
