gypsy jazz guitar maker, Jerome Duffell

I have been photographing the former industrial estate in Lewes called the Phoenix (Phoenix Project). Almost every time I go there, I find someone new that I didn’t know was working there. On my last visit I met Jerome Duffell who makes jazz manouche guitars in a small workshop tucked into the back of one of the units. He produces hand built specialist guitars and he was in the middle of making quite a few to sell at a festival in France in the summer. Also an accomplished musician, Jerome played one of his guitars for me. I was amazed by it’s beautiful, distinctive sound. More photos from this shoot here.
