moving on parade

I spent a wonderful day on Friday with my daughter and her classmates as they prepared for, and then participated in, Lewes’s ‘Moving on Parade’. Organised by Patina,┬áthis is a celebration of year 6 children (11-year-olds) leaving primary school and getting ready to enter secondary school. Fifteen local schools took part in the parade, and what felt like the whole town came out to cheer them on as they marched in their colourful handmade costumes through the High Street. The carnival atmosphere was not damped by the rain, despite the fact that the costumes were made of willow and tissue paper. There are more Patina photos here.
