photographing artists

I did a series of portraits of visual artists working in their studios about 30 years ago and here I find myself doing the same again – different location, with very different camera equipment but holding the same fascination for me. Artwave have asked me to take some photos for them so I found myself in Maya Cockburn’s studio in Lewes, actually in a building I photographed a few years ago, (photos here). The soft, grey light of the large west-facing window was perfect for capturing the colourful vibrancy of Maya and her paintings. More photographs can be found here.
