photo of the week: Birling Gap

Not long ago I used a picture of the Seven Sisters chalk cliffs as my weekly photo. This week’s photograph was taken at the same beach but on a different day, facing eastwards towards Beachy Head instead. Looking up at the height and sheer angle of the cliff always gives me a strange version of vertigo. Then there is the great expanse of brilliant white going up to the sky and under foot to the sea’s edge – a white so bright it can hurt your eyes.
