South-End-On-Sea, or Southend as it is generally known, is an Essex seaside resort with the longest pleasure pier in the world. This means it has an elevated walkway that goes 1.34 miles out into the Thames Estuary. It is so long, in fact, that there is a railway line to get to the end of it. Being a lover of public transport, I just had to take a ride on the train – and also, the walkway was closed due to adverse weather conditions. The thing is, we missed the return train and had to run the whole way back anyway. More of my travel photographs can be found here.
