Veasey and Sons operate out of Eastbourne Harbour and fish between there and Poole Bay. When I asked Chris Veasey how long he has been fishing, he told me he started at the age of 15, so his whole working life he has been going out to sea. Unfortunately I couldn’t go out on the water for the day, but I did see the latest catch of crabs and sea bass when I met Chris at the harbour. I was surprised to see that his boat was double hulled. I think of catamarans as being built for speed, but this one is built to stay steady and still on the water, making it easier to fish.
Veasey and Sons operate two shops and sell at local farmers markets. They were awarded Best Sussex Food/Farm shop for 2012/13.
